5 Speed manual transmission
In 1979, the Lancia Delta, a 5-door hatchback, was developed in response to the enormous popularity of the VW Golf.
The Delta was introduced as the continuation of the Litomo which was previously announced by Fiat, and its styling was handled by Italdesign, led by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who worked on the Golf. With the miniaturised styling of the 1976 concept car Maserati Medici, it was aimed to create a "small luxury car" with an elegant interior that used a lot of artificial leather 'Alcantara' contrary to Golf which looked like a low-end car.
The design was well received and won Lancia's first European Car of the Year in 1980. After that, the Lancia Delta HF16V was born as its homologated model when it was focused to start rally activities.
The engine was a horizontal in-line 4-cylinder / DOHC 2.0L turbo with 185 HP, which was quite high spec at the time and it was driven by a full-time 4WD system. This DOHC engine was commonly known as the "Ramp Ready Unit" which was a timing belt-driven twin cam unit designed by Aurelio Lampredi which was frequently used by Fiat. Of course, because of its reliability and success, it was supported in the motor sports scene later.
Many of you know the success of this model in the subsequent rally scene, such as the 6th consecutive WRC victory. The body size is a total length of 3.8M, a total width of 1.62M x a total height of 1.38M. The wheelbase is 2,475mm. The popular model has two square headlamps, but the high-performance models after HF 4WD, which became a homologation model of Group A, had four round headlamps, and was given great features such as a front grill that had thorough cooling in mind, and a spoiler that designed for aerodynamics. Given the blister fender with extra overhang, along with its powerful styling was so impactful that it can no longer be thought of as a base for a 1.5L family car.
The interior is luxurious using Alcantara, and contrary to its appearance, it creates a sense of luxury, and this conflicting two sides can be the appeal of this car. However, the drive is still spartan and exciting, and there are still many fans of this car.
Also, since the weight of the Evolution, which debuted after this had increased, it is the lightest and most powerful car of the same model in terms of power performance.
This vehicle was owned by the first owner for a long time, and many or the records from new have been kept. Looking at the huge number of documents, you can see how important the car has been to the owner.
Missoni's specially tailored interior is even rarer in this rare body color of Neroprilan Metal. I am confident that it will be difficult to find a model with the same specifications.
